Fair housing -- that is, civil rights in housing -- is so much more than a "treat everyone the same" approach.  One of the more complicated issues housing providers face are disability-related aid animals. As a sales professional, you may not encounter assistance animals daily, but knowing and understanding disability protections under the Fair Housing Act not only makes for good risk management, it enables you to appropriately direct clients, be they buyers, sellers, homeowners' associations, developers, etc.  This class will dive deep into assistance animals as an accommodation. Discover the difference between: pets, companion animals, service and assistance animals, therapy animals, plus more proper etiquette around working animals. Gain a clear understanding of: the definition of disability, modifications and accommodations, what¹s reasonable, and the process of verifying disabilities. Learn to avoid common pitfalls to protect yourself, as well as those you serve, such as: charging fees for and setting unreasonable rules for assistance animals, breed and species restrictions, and setting designated or Å’off limits¹ areas for residents with aid animals.
